Is a Nevis gaming licence the one for 2027?

Is a Nevis gaming licence the one for 2027?

Nevis is a licence on everyone’s lips in iGaming right now. The cost-effective, global player only entered the conversation in 2025, and has already made many operators with Curaçao or Anjouan licences ask the question: Should we make the move?

‍

The answer depends on your business. Here's a clear look at what Nevis offers and how to tell if it’s right for you.

‍

Why everyone’s talking about Nevis

Nevis passed its iGaming regulation in 2025, making it one of the newest jurisdictions on the map. This timing matters.

‍

Over the last two years, Curaçao operators have had to adapt to a new regime that’s brought higher costs, more paperwork and longer waits. And Anjouan operators have faced challenges with banks and PSPs.

‍

Nevis has arrived just at the right time. A fresh, fast, flexible option with refreshingly straightforward requirements.

‍

How the framework works

The requirements are simple.  Operators set up a company in Nevis with a registered address, provide proof of ownership, and appoint at least one shareholder and one director. Both can be an individual or a company. From there, you need to meet the legal, technical and compliance requirements.

‍

The licensing is fast. It typically only takes around 2 to 4 months, and company set-up can take as little as 5 to 7 days. And the fees are straightforward too. The annual fee is EUR 28,000, with no hidden costs or extra taxes on revenue.

One licence for all

A single Nevis licence covers all major product verticals, including casino, poker, sports betting, bingo, lottery, and software. B2B and B2C operators sit under the same framework, so suppliers and brands can both work from the same jurisdiction.

‍

The licence also provides truly global reach, even to grey jurisdictions like LATAM, Asia and Africa.

‍

So far, Nevis sounds like a strong contender for most operators. But while it may be a licence for all, it’s not for everyone.

Who Nevis suits (and who it doesn’t)

Nevis is a strong fit for:

  • Start-ups that want to launch fast with predictable costs
  • Established operators looking to cut tax and admin overheads
  • B2B suppliers who want one licence for every vertical
  • Brands targeting grey markets in LATAM, Asia and Africa

‍

It may not be right for you if:

  • Your core markets need a local licence, such as the UK or regulated European markets
  • Your current licence works well and the cost of switching outweighs the savings

The main trade-off is history. Nevis may provide speed and low cost, but it’s a less credible option just because partners have fewer years of data to judge it on. That will close over time, and the jurisdiction is building credibility quickly, so watch this space...
