The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland has released licence guidelines in preparation for licensing in the coming months.

The Licence Application Guidance will help operators to familiarise themselves with the licensing application process prior to it coming into effect. Last year, Ireland introduced the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 which involves a new licensing framework to regulate licensed operators providing gambling activities in Ireland.

The licensing application guidelines explain the licensing application process and expectations, which include a 28-day Notice of Intention to inform the regulator of an application, documentation required, and licence fees.

The initial wave of licences applications will be focused on B2C operators, who may have land-based or online platforms, and the B2B licenses and licences for charitable and philanthropic purposes will be assessed at a later stage.
